Prerun for GitLab: privacy
Last updated: 2026-11-04
The short version
Prerun runs inside your JetBrains IDE and works on your files there. It does not collect, store or send your code, your CI configuration, or anything about how you use it. There is no telemetry, analytics or tracking.
Network requests
Prerun makes network requests only when you click Fetch to resolve remote
includes. Those requests go only to the addresses named in your configuration (for
include:remote), to gitlab.com for include:template, and to the GitLab
instance you configure for include:project and components. Fetched files are cached
on your computer so they are not fetched again.
Access tokens
If you give Prerun a GitLab access token so it can read private projects, it is stored in your IDE's password safe and sent only to the GitLab instance you configured. We never see it.
Licences and payments
Pro licences are bought and managed through JetBrains Marketplace. JetBrains handles payment and licensing under its own privacy policy; Prerun asks the IDE whether a licence is present and receives no personal details from it. If JetBrains shares buyer details with us as the vendor (for example for invoices or support), we use them only to support your licence.
Error reports
If the IDE asks you to report an error from Prerun and you choose to send it, the report goes to JetBrains Marketplace, which shows it to us so we can fix the problem. Reports contain the error and stack trace, not your project files.
